Hello! My name is Joanne Black and I am one of two Co-Directors here at Stepping Stones Preschool.
A Little About Me…
I was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. I went to college in upper Michigan at Lake Superior State University (LSSU) where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Speech & Theatre. After moving to Illinois, my husband and I moved to Arizona where we’ve raised three children.
I started my journey with Stepping Stones Preschool (SSP) in 1986 as a parent aide when my eldest son attended. I became a teacher in 1999 when my youngest daughter attended SSP, earning a Child Development Associate (CDA) in Early Education and a Certificate in Early Education from Glendale Community College.
Over the years, I’m amazed by how fast time flies when you’re having fun! I’m still as enthusiastic today as I was back when my children attended. I think one of the key aspects of this school, in particular, that drives my energy every day is the fact that I enjoy the parent involvement. I believe the efforts our parents provide working alongside our teachers, are essential to our children’s development in early childhood education.
Best regards, Joanne
